And ‘shine’ is what they do in our Performing Arts Faculty! Here is Mrs Hunt’s review of our latest public performance.
On Wednesday 19th October, the newly formed ‘Performing Arts Faculty’ celebrated with a showcase of the talented pupils within Dance, Drama and Music.
We had three and a half weeks to pull the evening together, and it turned into a mammoth event. We sold out and crammed as many people in as we were allowed to have for a 2½-hour performance featuring pupils from years 7 to 13. There were singers and musicians performing solo acts and in bands; there were dramatic and comedy performances, dance pieces, poetry readings etc. It was a true variety performance.
I am so lucky to work with such amazingly committed and talented pupils and enthusiastic and committed staff.
The event was exactly what we hoped it would be - a showcase of raw talent, giving a flavour of the kinds of things that are taking place within the faculty on a daily basis. It was a chance to celebrate the coming together of our three departments.
The idea behind the showcase was to develop the sense of us working together. We are no longer three separate departments; working together, we can provide the pupils with a much more coherent, richer experience of performing arts where we can all share what we all do well.
This is the first of many performance events to come.
Watch this space!!!!
